The New Facebook Places

October 26, 2012

Facebook has launched a new look for Facebook Places.  There are some pretty cool new features!  What do you think of the changes?

More Info About Your Facebook Friends

As you can see in the photo above, Facebook now shows you which of your friends have lived in this city, as well as which friends are from here, have worked here, “like” this city or have visited this city.  Pretty cool!

The new layout also shows pictures of your friends that were taken in this Place.

Nearby Places in Facebook Places

Other nearby places are also shown in the new layout.  You can “like” these places right from this page, or you can see which friends have “liked” these places.  Great for a quick look.  You can also specify which types of nearby places you would like to see – for example specific types of nearby restaurants, nearby theatres, museums, and more!

Other Features in Facebook Places

Other features include the “Related Pages” shown at the bottom of the screen.  You can also see a map at the top, and links to other sites such as Foursquare under the ads on the right hand side of your screen.  If you click the settings button at the top, you can add this Place to your Favorites.  You can also expand the section at the top for more information from Wikipedia.

So what do you think of these new changes?  Are you liking the look of the new Facebook Places, or did you like the old look better?
